These quick and easy summer berry skewers with a honey vanilla dip make a great healthy dessert or party food idea for summer.
Today I'm sharing a yummy 'summer berry skewers with honey vanilla dip' recipe which makes a great simple dessert for summer. These easy to make fruit kebabs are perfect for serving up as party food, at a tea party or barbecue or for packing up and taking on a picnic too!
I used my favourite STIX plastic skewers for this recipe (find them in the Eats Amazing Shop here) but you could also use bamboo skewers or even cocktail sticks to make mini versions.
I made the fruit skewers with beautiful summer berries as they are so delicious at this time of year, but you could also use other fruits like melon, pineapple, clementine segments or kiwi fruit when berries go out of season.
The sweet dip was a big hit with my kids and can be a great way to encourage them to eat more fruit (not that mine need much encouragement, they are serious fruit monsters!). You can vary the amount of honey to suit your tastes, or skip it altogether if you prefer. For babies under 12 months, leave out the honey or substitute it for a little maple syrup.
Summer Berry Skewers with Vanilla Honey Dip
Ingredients:
For the dip:
- 200g thick Greek yogurt
- 2-3 tsp honey
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the skewers (makes 10):
- 10 fresh strawberries
- ½ punnet (75g) blueberries
- 10 fresh raspberries
- 10 bamboo or plastic skewers
Method:
First make up the dip.
Measure the yogurt into a bowl. Add the vanilla extract and 1-2 tsp honey to taste.
Stir really well until the ingredients are combined and the yogurt is smooth.
Transfer the yogurt to a serving bowl, then drizzle another teaspoon of honey over the top.
Once the dip is ready, make up the skewers.
Hull the strawberries. Thread blueberries, strawberries and raspberries onto your skewers. You can follow a pattern or pop them onto the sticks any way you like!
Place the bowl of dip and berry skewers on a serving plate or platter and serve immediately.
Enjoy!
Note: Both the dip and the skewers can be made in advance - cover and store in the fridge until ready to serve.
