This yummy strawberries and cream giant white chocolate buttons recipe is a great easy recipe for kids to make this summer!
Today I'm sharing a really simple gift idea that kids can make themselves - Strawberries & Cream Giant White Chocolate Buttons. This alternative summery take on the traditional mendiants recipe is really simple and makes a lovely teacher gift for the end of term!
Even the youngest of children can help to make these yummy treats - from breaking up the chocolate for melting to spooning out the melted chocolate and sprinkling the strawberries on top, there are lots of simple tasks that they can get involved with.
Strawberries & Cream Giant White Chocolate Buttons
Ingredients:
- 150g good quality white chocolate
- 20g freeze dried strawberries
Method:
Line 2 baking trays with grease-proof or baking paper. Check the tray sizes first to make sure they will fit in your fridge!
Break the chocolate into pieces and place it in a microwave safe bowl.
Chop the freeze dried strawberries into small pieces if needed, then place in a separate bowl until ready to use.
Melt the chocolate pieces by cooking in the microwave for 30 second bursts, stirring between each one to ensure it melts evenly. Be careful not to overheat or burn the chocolate, heat only until just melted and smooth.
Drop spoonfuls of the chocolate onto the lined trays, swirling each one into a circle with the back of the spoon to create each giant chocolate button.
Working quickly, scatter the freeze dried strawberry pieces evenly over the white chocolate buttons.
Place the trays in the fridge and chill for 15-20 minutes until the chocolate is completely set.
Carefully peel each chocolate button from the paper lining then store in an airtight container somewhere cool until ready to serve.
You could also pop the buttons in gift bags or boxes to give as gifts.
Note: If the weather is very hot, as we are experiencing with the current heatwave, these buttons are best stored in the fridge until ready to serve or give as gifts.
