Today I’m sharing two blog posts with you – a super cute (and totally delicious!) Noddy themed vanilla cupcakes recipe and this post, in which I’ll show you how to make the fondant Noddy themed cupcake toppers that you'll need to decorate the cupcakes.

These cute Noddy fondant toppers are really easy to make yourself and you don’t need any special cake decorating equipment for them either, always a bonus!

As I've mentioned in the Noddy cupcakes recipe post, I was challenged to come up with this fun and creative Noddy inspired project by The Book People, who are celebrating the 120th Anniversary of the birth of Enid Blyton by encouraging us all to get crafty with the #NoddyChallenge!

The #NoddyChallenge is all about inspiring parents and children to create together, making a range of art, food and craft projects inspired by Noddy and his friends. You can read more about it and find out how to join in yourself at the end of this post.

I’ve created a quick tutorial video to show you just how easy these fondant toppers are to make and to help you recreate them at home - you’ll also find the full written instructions and step by step photos for all four Noddy inspired designs below the video.

If you have any trouble loading the tutorial video above, click here to watch it on YouTube, and don’t forget to subscribe to the Eats Amazing YouTube channel while you are there for lots more easy recipes, tutorials and fun food ideas!

    1. Roll a piece of yellow fondant out to around the thickness of a £1 coin.
    2. Using a round cookie cutter the same size as the top of your cupcakes, cut out a circle for the base of the topper.
    3. Roll out a smaller and thinner piece of red fondant.
    4. Using a small circle cutter of the base of an icing piping tip, cut out small circles for the polka dots.
    5. Gently press the small red dots into the yellow circle to form a polka dot pattern.
    6. If some of the dots need to overlap the edge of the circle, add 'dots' of icing which overhang the edge of the circle then trim off the excess at the end with the original circle cutter.

Pipe a small flat swirl of white buttercream icing onto the top of the cake then cover with the polka-dot fondant topper, pressing gently around the edges to mould it to the top of the cake.

    1. Roll out a piece of red fondant, slightly thinner than a £1 coin.
    2. Using a round cookie cutter the same size as the top of your mini cupcakes, cut out a circle for each cupcake.
    3. Pipe a small blob of white buttercream icing onto the top of each mini cupcake then top with a red fondant circle.
    4. Carefully push white sugar pearls into the red fondant to decorate.
