I've got another quick and healthy fun food idea to share with you today - a cute and easy orange octopus! This really is so easy to make and a really fun way to make fruit even more appealing for children. It's perfect for a quick healthy snack, popping in a lunch box and for party food too - because they're so easy, they're great to make in bulk and would be perfect for an ocean or beach themed party!

Easy Orange Octopuses
Ingredients:
- Easy peeler or mandarin oranges
Equipment:
- Small sharp knife
- Non-toxic marker or food safe marker
Method:
Take your first orange and turn it upside down so that the little stalk is on the table.
Using a small sharp knife, score a cut right across the orange. You should cut through the skin but not into the actual flesh of the orange.
Turn the orange slightly and repeat 4 times, until you have 4 thin triangles cut into each side of the orange, radiating out from the middle (see step by step photos below or video above).
Gently pull all the 'legs' away from the middle on one side. Repeat on the other side until your orange has 8 legs.
Flip the orange over and pull out the legs from under it to rest pointing away from the orange - it should now look something like an octopus.
Draw on a face with your marker.
Repeat until you have as many octopuses as you need!
Notes: I used a non-toxic sharpie to draw on the octopus faces, as the skin will be discarded and not actually eaten. You can also use a food safe marker if you prefer.
Do you have any clever little tricks to make food fun for your kids? I'd love to hear about them in the comments below!
