    Easy Orange Octopuses

    Ingredients:

    • Easy peeler or mandarin oranges

    Equipment:

    • Small sharp knife
    • Non-toxic marker or food safe marker

    Method:

Take your first orange and turn it upside down so that the little stalk is on the table.

Using a small sharp knife, score a cut right across the orange. You should cut through the skin but not into the actual flesh of the orange.

Turn the orange slightly and repeat 4 times, until you have 4 thin triangles cut into each side of the orange, radiating out from the middle (see step by step photos below or video above).

Gently pull all the 'legs' away from the middle on one side. Repeat on the other side until your orange has 8 legs.

Flip the orange over and pull out the legs from under it to rest pointing away from the orange - it should now look something like an octopus.

Draw on a face with your marker.

Repeat until you have as many octopuses as you need!

Notes: I used a non-toxic sharpie to draw on the octopus faces, as the skin will be discarded and not actually eaten. You can also use a food safe marker if you prefer.

Oh Grace! these are to die for sooooo cute, I love them. Lewis likes me to make fruit faces on a plate but I think I may have just found a centre piece. Love it!
