It's day 4 of Sandwich Week here on the Eats Amazing blog - every day this week I'm bringing you new quick and easy fun sandwich ideas for kids, all of which are perfect for popping in a bento box or lunch box ready for back to school.
Today I'm sharing a quick video tutorial for 4 different fun sandwich ideas! You'll find all the details further down this post so you can make them yourself at home, or why not get your kids to give them a go themselves?
Taking a few extra minutes to add a little fun to your child's lunch box can make the chore of packing lunches a little more enjoyable for you and of course it will bring a smile to your child's face when they open their lunch box at school!
These fun sandwiches are all perfect for packed lunches, bento boxes, snacks, party food or for just a fun lunch or tea at home. With sandwich kebabs, cookie cutter sandwiches, a simple but cute owl sandwich and sushi sandwich roll-ups, we've got packed lunches for the first week back to school sorted!
I made each of these sandwiches with different sandwich fillings, but you can of course change the fillings to suit your child's tastes. If you'd like more filling ideas, check out my ultimate list of sandwich filling ideas!
Easy Sandwich Kebabs
Sandwich kebabs are really easy to make and add lots of fun to a lunch box, after all, everything tastes better on a stick, right?! Try switching up the cucumber for other veggies - cherry tomato, carrot slices and red pepper chunks work well too. If serving these at home, you could also give your kids little bowls filled with each sandwich component and a handful of skewers to let them build their own before eating for even more fun!
You'll find written instructions and a printable recipe sheet for these here: Easy Sandwich Kebabs for Kids, and you can find the fun plastic animal mini skewers I used to make them in the Eats Amazing Shop here: Animal Skewer Food Picks.
Cookie Cutter Flower Sandwiches
Fun sandwiches don't get much easier than these pretty flowers - just dig out some cookie cutters and you've got everything you need for cute kid-friendly sandwiches! I used flower cutters, but you can use any shape at all. Got dinsoaurs, butterflies or cars? That will work! Or maybe just plain old round cookie cutters? That will work too!
You'll find full written instructions plus a bonus star shaped open sandwich idea here: Flower and Star Cookie Cutter Sandwiches.
Easy Owl Sandwich
A wise owl makes the perfect theme for a back to school lunch and this cute owl sandwich is so easy to make! You'll find the full instructions and a printable recipe sheet for this fun sandwich here: Easy Owl Sandwich Tutorial
Tuna and Cucumber Sushi Sandwiches
Sushi sandwich roll-ups are a really quick and easy way to make sandwiches more fun and interesting, and they are really easy to customise to your kids tastes. You can make them with or without crusts (just cut them off before rolling out the bread if don't want the crusts) and there are loads of different fillings you can put inside them. If eating at home, try serving them with chopsticks for extra fun and a sneaky way to practice those fine motor skills too!
You'll find written instructions and a printable recipe sheet for my sushi sandwich roll-ups here: 4 Fun and Easy Sushi Sandwich Roll-Ups, along with 3 other yummy filling ideas. You can also find some special child friendly chop sticks in the Eats Amazing Shop.
