A wise owl makes the perfect theme for a school lunch box and this cute owl sandwich is so easy to make! You don't need any special equipment, just a round cookie cutter to make this easy fun sandwich.

Be sure to check out my tutorial video so you can see just how easy it is!

We packed our owl sandwich in a lunch box but this simple design would be great for party food or a fun meal at home too. You'll find all the instructions you need to make it below and a printable recipe sheet for this fun sandwich at the end of the post.

Easy Owl Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 2 pieces brown bread
  • butter or spread
  • 1 slice roast beef or filling of your choice
  • 1 mini Babybel cheese
  • 1 slice raw carrot
  • 1 blueberry or 1 red grape

Method:

Make up your sandwich with a filling of your choice.

Using a large round cookie cutter or top of a drinking glass or beaker, cut a semi-circle shaped slice from the top off the sandwich, forming the top of the owl's head with points on each side for the head tufts.

Unwrap the Babybel cheese, peel off the wax and discard. Slice the cheese in two across the middle to form two round circles.

Place the cheese circles on top of the sandwich to form the eyes.

Cut the carrot slice into a triangle and slice the blueberry or grape in two.

Place the carrot triangle on the sandwich under the eyes to form the beak, and finish your owl off with the two blueberry or grape halves for pupils.

Pack in a lunch box (we used our blue Yumbox Panino) alongside some crunchy veg and tasty fruit or serve immediately.

Enjoy!
