Turn shop bought macarons into a super cute treat with this easy bee macarons fun food tutorial. Perfect for quick and easy bee themed party food for kids!
Spring is in the air and to celebrate, I recently created these super cute (but totally easy!) bee macarons.
Before you run scared at the idea of making macarons from scratch, fear not, this is a complete cheats 'recipe' - I simply decorated ready-made macarons from the supermarket to make a super fun treat in just a minute or two!
If you are a better baker than I, you can of course make your own macarons - you'll find links to several great recipes further down this post. When time is short though (and let's face it, when you're throwing a kids party, time is ALWAYS short!), there's nothing wrong with making life easier for yourself with a quick shortcut like this.
These cute buzzy bee macarons would be perfect for bee themed party food, a Winnie the Pooh themed party, a bug themed party or just a cute party treat for any party at all!
Not throwing a party any time soon? They'd make a fun weekend edible craft project for the kids too.
Quick and Easy Bee Macarons
Ingredients (makes 6):
- 6 yellow, cream or beige coloured macarons
- 1 black edible marker pen
- small tube of glitter writing icing
- 12 edible candy eyeballs
Method:
Using a black edible marker pen, draw stripes on the top of a macaron, including a thick stripe for the head. Be careful to draw lightly so that you don’t go through the delicate macaron crust.
Using the writing icing as 'glue', stick on two edible candy eyes.
Draw on the wings with the writing icing.
Leave to dry for a minute or two, then place on a plate or platter to serve.
Enjoy!
