    Healthy Berry Milkshake Recipe

Today I'm sharing a simple healthy berry milkshake recipe.  My children both love milkshake, and as neither of them are hugely keen on drinking milk, I find it's a great way to get some extra calcium into them.  The problem is, both ready made milkshake and milkshake powders are usually full of sugar (not to mention flavourings, colourings and other e-numbers!), so I always prefer to make my own.  Fortunately it's very easy to make, and this recipe contains a good portion of hidden fruit too, counting nicely towards their five a day!

I made this recipe with milk and yoghurt, but you can easily make a dairy free version by substituting them with dairy free versions of your choice - I have made versions of this recipe with both rice milk and soya milk, and replaced the yoghurt with soya yogurt, and it still tastes delicious.

Simple and healthy Homemade Berry Milkshake recipe - no added sugar great for kids

    Healthy Berry Milkshake

    Ingredients (serves 2-3)

    • 350ml milk
    • 1 large banana
    • 75g raspberries (fresh or frozen)
    • 75g strawberries (fresh or frozen)
    • 100g yoghurt (I used strawberry flavour)

    Method

Measure out the milk and pour into a blender, or a large jug if you are using a stick blender.

Peel the banana, break into chunks and drop into the milk.  Add the raspberries and strawberries, then dollop the yoghurt on top.

Whizz up with the blender until smooth then serve immediately, yum!

Do you ever make homemade milkshakes? What fruit do you like to use? Let me know in the comments below!
