I've shared a few different LEGO themed foods here on the blog recently and this fun snack plate built from Lego is the perfect way to serve them up! You can build it together with your kids for a fun weekend project, or even set up a Lego plate building table for a fun activity at a Lego themed party!

I enlisted my boys to help me with this fun little project and they had a lot of fun finding the 'right kind of bricks', sorting them into colours and helping me to design and build the different sections.

This project was inspired by these fun Lego food cups from Be Brave, Keep Going. We took it a step further by mounting the Lego cups on a base board to make fun divided plates. The boys loved eating from their homemade Lego plates and wanted to keep them to use again and again!

How to make a Lego Snack Plate

    Supplies:

    • 1 Lego base board
    • Standard Lego blocks in different colours
    • 4 cupcake or muffin cases
    • healthy snacks of your choice

    Optional extras:

    • Lego minifigures
    • homemade Lego food picks

    Method:

Sort the Lego blocks into different colours - we used blue, green, yellow and red.

Build four square frames, with each side 12 studs long by 2 studs wide. We built ours using a different single colour for each square but you can of course use any colours or mix the colours up if you prefer!

How to make a Lego snack plate - Step 1 build the compartments

Place the squares onto the base board and push down to make sure they are firmly in place.

Pop a muffin case inside each square. Once you add food it will hold the cupcake cases in place, so don't worry if they don't want to sit neatly in the squares at this stage.

Fill each section with foods of your choice. We went for healthy snacks but you could of course include some treats too!

For even more fun, get the kids to attach a few of their Lego minifigures to their plates!

Our homemade Lego food picks are also a perfect addition to a Lego snack plate - find out how to make them here: DIY Lego Food Pick Tutorial.

Here's our finished snack plate. We served up round carrot slices (we called them giant lego studs!), blueberries, fun Lego sandwiches and Lego fruit blocks with ours, along with the homemade Lego food picks that I mentioned above.
