Following on from yesterday's LEGO Sandwiches, today I have another fun Lego tutorial for you, this time using real Lego blocks to make your food fun!
These simple homemade food picks are perfect for decorating bento lunches, snack plates or party food for older kids. They're quick and easy to make and you can customise them to suit any colour scheme by using coloured blocks of your choice.
DIY LEGO Food Picks
Supplies needed:
- handful 1 x 1 Lego blocks
- handful plastic or wooden cocktail sticks
- hot glue gun
Method:
Wash the Lego blocks in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. You may need to leave them out to dry for a while as the inside of the block needs to be completely dry too.
Once dry, turn a block upside down and fill the inside with hot glue. Whilst still warm, push a cocktail stick into the glue and hold it in place until the glue cools and sets (this shouldn't take long).
Repeat with the other blocks until you have as many Lego food picks as you need.
Push the food picks into fruit, veggies, meat or cheese for instant fun Lego themed party platters, or make mini Lego kebabs by threading small pieces of cold food onto the picks.
Note: You can also snap or cut the sharp ends off of the picks if wanted.
