Today I’m sharing a fun monkey themed sandwich and lunch box along with a quick video tutorial to show you how easy it is to make. This post is part of a series of blog posts where I'm sharing fun sandwiches that I have created with the new range of Good Inside®* Sandwich Thins from Hovis®. I started with a cute dog themed sandwich and packed lunch idea, then I shared a fish food art idea and I'll be sharing some fun festive sandwich ideas next week too, so watch this space!
Hovis® Good Inside®* Sandwich Thins are great for packed lunches, they make putting a tasty lunch together so quick and easy. You can fill them with a whole range of sandwich fillings and as you can see from this series of posts, they are easy to decorate for extra fun lunches too! I'm really enjoying creating these fun Sandwich Thins designs and my boys are thoroughly enjoying eating them too.
Now, back to today's fun sandwich design - this monkey Sandwich Thin can be served up on a plate for a fun lunch at home (it's easy to make so would be great for kids party food too!) or packed in a lunch box for a delicious and fun school lunch.
Monkey Sandwich Thin
Ingredients:
- 1 Hovis® Wholemeal Good Inside®* Sandwich Thin
- butter or spread
- 1 slice of ham or filling of your choice
- 1 cheddar cheese slice
- 2 blueberries
- 1 round slice carrot
Method:
First split the Sandwich Thin, and using a small circle cutter, cut and remove an 'ear' from each side of the bottom slice of the Sandwich Thin (see the video below for a demonstration).
Butter and fill your Sandwich Thin with a filling of your choice, turning the ear pieces over and popping them into the gaps in the sandwich as you do so. I buttered mine and added a slice of ham to fill it. Other sandwich meats such as roast beef or chicken, or a slice of cheddar cheese would also work well for a neat and tidy sandwich!
Take the slice of cheddar cheese, and using a circle cutter with a similar diameter to the width of the Sandwich Thin, cut out a semi-circle of cheese and place it so that it covers the bottom half of the Sandwich Thin.
Take the small circle cutter and cut out two circles from the remaining cheese, popping them in place for the eyes. Top the cheese 'eye's with the blueberries.
Finally, take the slice of carrot and using the small circle cutter, cut out a thin crescent for the mouth and pop onto the sandwich to finish it.
Below you’ll find my quick video tutorial for this fun sandwich and a matching lunch box idea too. Click here if you can’t see the video below for any reason, and don’t forget to follow the Eats Amazing YouTube channel while you’re there for lots more fun food ideas!
When I packed the monkey sandwich as part of a school lunch, I also packed the following foods; blueberries, dried banana chips, carrot disks and cherry tomatoes, which I topped with a cute little monkey food pick to match the sandwich. I packed the sandwich in this sandwich box from Sistema and the sides in these little snack pots, also from Sistema.
I hope you've enjoyed this fun sandwich and packed lunch idea, be sure to check back soon to see what new creative sandwich idea I have for you next!

So cute! If any Aussies read this, helgas sandwich flat breads would easily work to achieve the same look. I wonder whether this might convince my little Monkey (Master 3) to try a sandwich?
