Party Food Idea - Tortilla Roll-up Lollipops

Today I'm sharing a fun little idea that I've been making for my children for a while now - savoury tortilla roll-up lollipops!

These are so simple to make I can barely call it a recipe, but I think it is a cute party food idea that is worth sharing.  These would also be lovely for picnics, for fun lunches at home or for an after school snack - with wholemeal wraps and maybe some colourful vegetables hidden inside, they can be healthy as well as fun and delicious!

    Tortilla Roll-Up Lollipops

    Ingredients

    • wholemeal tortilla wraps
    • cream cheese
    • ham
    • lettuce
    • pretzel sticks (I found mine in M&S)

    Method

Pop a tortilla wrap in the microwave for 5-10 seconds to soften it. Spread cream cheese over one side, spreading it right to the edges of the wrap.

Lay over your fillings - I used ham and lettuce leaves for this one.  Fold the sides over as shown below.

Roll the wrap up tightly. Cut into 6 equal pieces.  If you want to present them neatly, cut the ends off before dividing them up. Just before serving, push a pretzel stick into the top of each piece to form the lollipop handle.

Present neatly on a plate and enjoy! I made up a second set with ham, houmous and cheese to create a contrasting flavour - don't they look pretty! You could use any fillings that you like - I find wraps are a great place to hide all sorts of vegetables (leafy salad for example!) that my children wouldn't normally be keen on eating otherwise.

If you wanted to pack these in a lunch box, pack the tortilla spirals and pretzel sticks separately, otherwise the pretzel sticks may go a little soggy by the time lunch time arrives (or just skip the sticks altogether).

The same if you're serving at a party - you can prepare the tortilla spirals in advance but don't add the pretzel sticks until just before serving.

Did you mean sour cream instead of cream cheese?

Hi Sami, no, I used cream cheese in my wraps. You could try a light scraping of sour cream though?
