Serve up strawberries and cream in a fresh new way with these fun strawberries and cream cones - the perfect treat for summer parties!

Today I have a really fun summer dessert recipe to share with you - strawberries and cream ice cream cones! I can't take credit for this brilliant idea, to be honest I'm not sure who came up with it but this is how we have served up strawberries and cream at our school summer fayre for the last few years and I just had to reproduce it at home!

This recipe was originally shared here on the Eats Amazing blog on the 5th July 2018. I’ve now updated this post with a brand new tutorial video so you can see exactly how they are made!

Such a great way to serve strawberries and cream this summer - fun party food idea for kids that is perfect for summer fairs too

Be sure to check out my recipe video so you can see just how easy these are to make!

This fun dessert idea is very simple - the British classic of strawberries and cream, but disguised as ice cream! It's a really fun way to get the kids enjoying their fruit and my boys absolutely love them.

British strawberries are in season at the moment and they taste absolutely amazing however you eat them, but nothing beats strawberries with freshly whipped cream.

Quick and easy summer dessert idea for kids - serve strawberries and cream in an ice cream cone

I used 'proper' fresh whipped cream for my cones but if you're serving the cones up an event like a garden party or school summer fayre, it can be easier to just use squirty cream from a can. The 'ice-cream' top won't hold it's shape for very long unless you use real cream but squirty cream does the job just as well if the cones are going to be eaten instantly.

For an even more authentic looking ice-cream you could also add a chocolate flake and/or a drizzle of strawberry or chocolate sauce, but we kept ours simple and slightly healthier with a few sprinkles on top.

Carefully spoon the whipped cream into a piping bag with a large star nozzle.

Hull the strawberries and cut into quarters.

Divide the strawberries between the ice cream cones.

Pipe a generous swirl of whipped cream onto the top of each cone, so that it resembles an ice cream.

Scatter over optional sprinkles, if wanted.
