This Christmas is going to be very different for all of us this year, but one thing will remain the same for our family - we'll be celebrating with lots of lovely food!
Quick and easy festive recipes like this one for reindeer rice crispy treats are perfect for entertaining the kids in the Christmas holidays - you can have lots of fun whipping up a storm in the kitchen together and then enjoy the tasty fruits of your labour for a fun snack or treat afterwards.
I was challenged to create a festive SKIPPY® treat with smooth, creamy, delicious SKIPPY® Peanut Butter. Perfect for spreading and baking, with more than 91% high quality peanuts in every jar, American-style SKIPPY® Peanut Butter is a great ingredient for Christmas baking.
I used the smooth variety of SKIPPY® Peanut Butter for this recipe, which is made with sweeter peanuts sourced from the Americas that have a finer grind which just melts in the mouth. It was perfect for these crispy festive treats, melting down beautifully for an extra smooth and creamy taste!
Fans of crunchier peanut butter can also enjoy the Extra Crunchy variety which contains large peanut pieces in a deliciously creamy mix. If you prefer a bit of extra crunch in your rice crispy treats, you can use the Extra Crunchy variety in this recipe instead.

Reindeer Peanut Butter Rice Crispy Treats
Ingredients: (makes 6)
- 165g SKIPPY® Peanut Butter Smooth
- 100g honey
- 75g puffed rice cereal
To decorate:
- 12 pretzels
- 12 edible candy eyeballs
- 6 red or pink smarties
Grease and line a 20cm round sandwich tin with non-stick baking paper.
Place the honey and SKIPPY® Peanut Butter Smooth out into a large saucepan and cook over a low-medium heat for a few minutes, stirring continuously until the mixture changes texture and starts to thicken up.
Working quickly, remove from the heat and pour the puffed rice cereal into the peanut butter and honey mixture. Stir together until well combined.
Tip the mixture into the lined tin then press down into the tin to form an even layer.
Place in the fridge to set for around an hour until set.
Remove and cut into six wedges with a sharp knife. Note: I find I get neater wedges if I cut them in the pan first before turning out.
Using extra SKIPPY® Peanut Butter Smooth as 'glue', decorate each crispy wedge with 2 pretzels, 2 edible candy eyeballs and a red or pink smartie, to make reindeer antlers, eyes and nose.
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place until ready to serve.
Enjoy!
SKIPPY® Peanut Butter is now widely available in the UK and a great source of protein for growing kids! SKIPPY® Peanut Butter is available in both Extra Smooth and Extra Crunchy, both totally delicious!
