Following on from the Rainbow Unicorn lunch I shared last week, today I have a fun dinosaur themed lunch to share with you. This lunch uses another of the new Lunch Punch sandwich cutters, this time from the Dinosaur cutter set. I filmed a quick tutorial as I made it to show you how easy it is to make this fun lunch, but I’ve also written out full instructions which you’ll find further down this blog post.

The new dinosaur and unicorn Lunch Punch cutters are slightly more fiddly than the older designs but they still work well to make really fun sandwiches. My boys both love the big dinosaur cutter and the set comes with a quad cutter to make mini dinosaur sandwiches too. I’ve shared some tips in my instructions below to help you get the best out of these sandwich cutters, which you can now find in the Lunch Punch cutters section of the Eats Amazing Shop.
I used crunchy green veggies and fruit to match the dinosaur theme and although I wasn't able to persuade my 3 year old to eat much of the lettuce he still enjoyed the rest of the lunch! I packed this lunch in our red Yumbox bento lunch box but you could of course use any lunch box you have.
Dinosaur Bento Lunch
Ingredients:
- 2 slices bread
- butter or spread
- 1 slice of cheese or filling of your choice
- 2 edible candy eyeballs
- 2 lettuce leaves or handful of raw spinach leaves
- baby corn & sugar snap peas
- 1 kiwi fruit
- small handful blueberries
- dried apple rings
Equipment:
- Lunch Punch Dinosaur Sandwich Cutter
- Divided Bento Box (I used our Yumbox Panino)
- Dinosaur cupcake ring
- small sharp knife
Method:
First cut out your dinosaur sandwich using the Lunch Punch sandwich cutter. As you can see in the video above, I like to cut the pieces separately as this gives a cleaner shape. If you’re having trouble getting a good imprint, try microwaving the bread for 3-5 seconds before cutting to soften. I also use a food pick with a rounded end to help pop the sandwich out of the cutter without breaking it. Once you've finished the sandwich, add two edible candy eyeballs to the dinosaur's face, pressing them into the bread so that they stick in place.
Lay the lettuce or spinach leaves in the bottom of the largest compartment in your lunch box. Place the dinosaur sandwich on top.
Arrange the baby corn and sugar snap peas in one of the smaller lunch box compartments and decorate with a dinosaur cupcake ring if wanted.
Cut the kiwi fruit in half with a zig zag pattern all the way around then pull apart (see video for how to do this). Place one half in the other smaller lunch box compartment and fill in any gaps with blueberries.
Finish the lunch off a handful of dried fruit - I used a couple of dried apple rings.
