Easy Berry Milkshake - Fun Valentines Day Recipe for Kids

This gorgeously simple berry milkshake is delicious at any time of year, but the natural pink colour makes it a great Valentines recipe for kids!

How to make an easy berry milkshake - fun Valentines recipe for kids with tutorial for sprinkle topped glasses too

Ready-made milk shakes are often full of added sugar, flavourings, colours and other unwanted ingredients, but it is SO easy to make your own at home using plain milk and yogurt with real fruit to add flavour, colour and sweetness.

For an extra special treat I added sprinkles to our glasses, but if you're trying to avoid extra sugar, just skip this step as this milkshake recipe is every bit as delicious without them.

I made this recipe with milk and yogurt, but you can easily make a dairy free version by substituting them with dairy free versions of your choice – I have made versions of this recipe using rice milk, almond milk or soya milk (replacing the yogurt with soya yogurt), all of which work well.

    Easy Berry Milkshake

    Ingredients (serves 2-3):

    For the sprinkle topped glasses:

    • 1 small (30g) bag white chocolate buttons
    • pink and red sprinkles

    For the milkshake:

    • 300ml milk
    • 1 large banana
    • 150g frozen berries
    • 100g Greek yogurt

    Method:

First prepare the sprinkle topped glasses:

Pop the white chocolate buttons into a small microwavable bowl and melt in the microwave at 15 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.

Pour a thick layer of sprinkles into the bottom of a small bowl. Working quickly, turn a glass upside down and dip the rim in the white chocolate to coat, allowing any excess to drip back into the bowl.

Dip the white chocolate coated glass in the sprinkles, so that the sprinkles stick to the chocolate. Hold the glass upside down until the chocolate starts to set, then place to one side to finish setting and repeat with the other glasses until you have as many sprinkle topped glasses as you need.

Once the glasses are ready, make the milkshake:

Place the frozen berries in a blender, or large jug if you are using a stick blender.

Peel the banana, break into chunks and add it to the blender, then add the yogurt too.

Measure out the milk and add to the blender.

Whizz up with the blender until smooth, then pour into the prepare glasses and serve immediately.

    Enjoy!

Note: We added paper straws and pink sparkly foil cocktail sticks to ours to make our special Valentines milkshakes extra fun!
