Watch to see how I turn a plain Sandwich Thin into a cute penguin sandwich in just a few really easy steps! Kids will love this fun sandwich idea - perfect for Christmas lunch boxes!
Today I’m sharing a simple but fun penguin themed sandwich, along with a quick video tutorial to show you how easy it is to make. This post is part of a series of blog posts where I'm sharing fun sandwiches that I have created with the great new range of Good Inside®* Sandwich Thins from Hovis®. You can see all six of the fun sandwich designs that I've created for this project here: Creative Sandwich Thins Ideas.
I really like Hovis® Good Inside®* Sandwich Thins because they help to make putting a packed lunch together so quick and easy. You can fill them with so many different sandwich fillings and as you can see from my series of Sandwich Thins posts, they are easy to decorate if you want to add a little extra fun into your packed lunches too.
This cute penguin Sandwich Thin can be served up on a plate for a fun lunch at home (it's easy to make so would be great for kids party food too!) or packed in a lunch box for a delicious and fun wintry themed school lunch when they go back to school.
Penguin Sandwich Thin
Ingredients:
- 1 Hovis® Best of Both Good Inside®* Sandwich Thin
- butter or spread
- 1 cheddar cheese slice or sandwich filling of your choice
- slice orange pepper
- edible icing eyes
- snowflake sprinkles (optional)
Method:
Using a large circle cutter (I used the largest one from this nesting circle cutter set), cut the Sandwich Thin into a circle shape.
Split the Sandwich Thin in half, then take a smaller circle cutter and cut a circle from the top piece to form the penguin's tummy. Flip the small circle of Sandwich Thin over so that the white side faces up.
Butter the Sandwich Thin, then take the larger circle cutter and cut a slice of cheddar cheese to the same shape as the sandwich and use it to fill the Sandwich Thin. You can pop any of the leftover scraps of cheese inside the sandwich too, to avoid wasting them.
Take your orange pepper slice and cut out a small triangle of pepper to form the penguin's beak. Add it to the Sandwich Thin penguin along with the two edible candy eyes to finish.
If serving up at home, pop your Sandwich Thin penguin onto a plate and sprinkle a few snowflake sprinkles around it to decorate.
Serve and enjoy!
