It’s day eight of the Eats Amazing Advent Calendar, are you enjoying it so far? I do hope so! Today I’ve got another fun Christmas present idea to share – easy reindeer treat bags!

Be sure to check out my tutorial video so you can see just how easy these are to make!

These fun treats are a variation on the reindeer snack bags I shared last year and would be perfect for children to make for teachers, friends or family this Christmas. This is a really easy edible craft that even the youngest children could help to make.

Reindeer Treat Bags

Ingredients (makes 4):

  • large sharing bag of Malteasers
  • large sharing bag of Minstrels
  • 2 bags Giant Chocolate Buttons
  • 8 x strawberry softies or other red sweets

Equipment:

  • 4 clear disposable piping bags or cone shaped cellophane bags
  • 4 long brown pipe cleaners
  • 8 googly eyes
  • glue stick

Method:

Pour all the chocolates into a large bowl and carefully stir until well mixed.

Pop 2 strawberry softies into the bottom of one of the bags, pushing them down gently as far as they will go.

Repeat with the other 3 bags.

Using a large spoon, scoop the chocolates into each bag, dividing them equally between all four.

Wrap a pipe cleaner around each bag to tie it closed, then wrap the two loose ends around your finger to curl into antlers.

Finish by gluing two googly eyes to each bag.

Store in a cool dry place until ready to use.

NOTE: I shared the type of chocolates I used in the recipe above but you can use any combination of brown chocolates for the same effect.

What kind of glue did you use to glue the googly eyes to the bag? I tried a glue stick but it just slides off even after holding it for a bit. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Rosalie, I just used a pritt stick glue stick for these but have also used a hot glue gun for similar projects, so would recommend trying that if you need them to be a bit more permanent.
