Kid friendly easy pea and mint houmous recipe - serve this yummy houmous up with crunchy veg for healthy snacks or party food

I find that houmous and other savoury dips can be really useful when it comes to encouraging my kids to eat up their veggies - give them something to dip them in and the whole process becomes immediately more fun! This simple pea houmous is a gorgeous green colour which amazingly can be a great help too - give it an imaginative name (anything from hulk houmous to swamp monster sludge or dinosaur dip!) and it becomes instantly more appealing.

Pea and Mint Houmous recipe - with fresh mint grown in my garden

I used fresh mint straight from our garden for this recipe, there's nothing like using fresh herbs within minutes of cutting them! Herbs like mint that are easy to grow are a great place to start if you want to try growing food with your kids, my boys get so excited when we cook with home-grown ingredients, no matter how small!

How to make pea and mint houmous with no tahini - this simple recipe is sweet mild and child friendly

It's so quick and easy to make your own houmous, just 5 minutes from start to finish, and you have full control over the ingredients so you know exactly what is in it. Shop bought houmous can also be a bit too strong in flavour for younger children, but this homemade version is much milder and sweeter so a lot more child friendly. Why not get your kids involved in making it too, my boys always love seeing ingredients transform as they are whizzed up in our blender!
