Today I have another fun Halloween drink idea to share; easy jack-o'-lantern smoothies! I can't really claim to call this a recipe as I used a ready-to-go frozen smoothie mix for it, but I think the serving idea is fun, so worth sharing!
This recipe makes a really thick smoothie, so if you find it too thick, you can add a little more water until you get the consistency you prefer. I like to serve up thick smoothies to the children though, they can then eat it with a spoon which I've found helps to avoid brain freeze!
I used a smoothie mix from Iceland for this recipe - you can find it here: Pineapple, Papaya & Carrot Smoothie Mix. I also used the same smoothie mix in our traffic light smoothie pops earlier this year.
Jack-O'-Lantern Smoothies
Ingredients (makes 2):
- 2x 150g bags Pineapple, Papaya & Carrot Smoothie Mix
- 200ml orange juice
- 100ml cold water
To decorate:
- clear plastic cups or glasses
- black marker pen (I used a sharpie)
- green straws
Method:
Start by preparing your cups. With a black marker pen, draw a jack o' lantern face on each cup. Check the length of the straws against the cup and cut them down a little if needed.
Measure out the orange juice and pour into a blender.
Add the smoothie mix and blend until smooth.
Spoon or pour into the prepared glasses.
Top with a straw, placed in the middle of the cup like a stalk.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
