Remember, Remember, the Fifth of November...

Remember, remember, the fifth of November,
    Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
    Should ever be forgot.

I realise today is the 7th November, so I'm two days late with this, but sadly for me my laptop died a couple of days ago so I've been stuck offline.  Thanks to my lovely husband, all is now mended and fully backed up so any future problems should be sorted a little quicker.  Fingers crossed for no more issues in the future though!

Back to the subject of lunch; I made Small Child a special themed lunch to celebrate the bonfire night this week.  We went to a firework display on Saturday, but still managed to wave a few sparklers on the night of the 5th itself.  I thought it was a perfect opportunity for a themed lunch (any excuse!).

In his bonfire lunchbox Small Child had some pretzel sticks (the bonfire), some red pepper, yellow pepper and orange cheese cutouts (flames), and a rice star surrounded by cubed cucumber and red pepper (a firework?)

In his second box he had some 'firework' shaped frozen yoghurt blocks, with a few 'firework' sprinkles (stars and rainbow strands) to sprinkle over them.  He also had a fruit 'firework' made from a clementine topped with a couple of kiwi stars.  He happily ate the rest of the kiwi with his breakfast, thus avoiding the dreaded waste again.

Not a scrap was left when I picked him up from school, so I'm assuming this lunch was a success! I look forward to resuming my daily posts from now on, as the holidays are now over until Christmas and hopefully the laptop will remain in full working order!

Very cool idea! I particularly like the clementine-and-kiwi firework. I shall have to try that someday.

Fireworks is such a great theme! The clementine and kiwi are simply beautiful together!
