Want a fun lunch idea that's quick and easy? This funny face bagel is perfect for an extra special lunch for the first day back to school and it takes no time at all to make. I filmed a quick tutorial as I made it to show you how easy it is to make this fun lunch, but I’ve also written out full instructions which you’ll find further down this blog post.

This fun lunch doesn't need any special equipment - just a lunch box. I used our favourite Yumbox Panino bento box as it's the perfect size for this lunch but any lunch box would work. If you don't have a divided lunch box, try popping the funny face bagel in a sandwich box and packing the sides in little snack boxes. I also added some googly eye bento picks to this lunch for extra fun but they are of course entirely optional.
Funny Face Bagel Lunch
Ingredients:
For the funny face bagel:
- 1 bagel
- butter or spread
- 1 slice of roast beef or filling of your choice
- 1 mini Babybel cheese
- 1 cherry tomato
- 2 blueberries
For the rest of the lunch:
- 1 small snack cucumber
- 1 small carrot
- 2 large strawberries
- handful yogurt covered raisins
Equipment:
- divided bento box (I used our Yumbox Panino)
- small sharp knife
- googly eye bento picks
Method:
Split the bagel, spread with butter and fill with the roast beef or another filling of your choice. Remove the plastic outer wrapping from the mini Babybel, then leaving the wax intact, split the cheese in half to form two circles for eyes.
Place the bagel in a lunch box, pop a cherry tomato in the middle, add the Babybel 'eyes' and finish with a couple of blueberries for the pupils.
Prepare the sides; wash and slice the snack cucumber, peel and slice the carrot and hull the strawberries. Place them in the lunch box compartments along with the yogurt covered raisins (or plain dried fruit if you'd prefer) and finish by decorating with googly eye food picks.
