    Monsters, Inc. Themed Lunch

Small Child recently watched Monsters, Inc. for the first time, and (apart from the 'scary' bits) thoroughly enjoyed it.  He doesn't usually watch much TV at all, and as he is a child with a very vivid imagination, we've found that so far there are very few films that he can watch without being scared to bits!  On this occasion however, with the help of a cushion to hide behind, and a Mum to cuddle during the very scariest bits we actually got to the end of the film.  After that he asked me every day if I could make him a Monsters, Inc. themed lunch, and I finally gathered enough brain cells together to come up with this one (I've been running a little low on decent sleep recently, hence the lack of functioning brain cells!).

In this lunch Small Child had a cheddar cheese and red pepper quesadilla, cut into a rectangle and decorated with edible marker pen and red pepper flowers to make Boo's door.  I added some raw sugar snap peas to give the impression of a monster creeping around it. On the side he had some rolled ham, skewered on 'M' alphabet picks, and an apple, which I cored and turned into 'Mike Wazowski' by carving the skin and adding a jelly eye.  As usual I dipped all cut parts of the apple into orange juice to prevent browning.  I finished the lunch off with a little toy 'Sully' to decorate.

I also added a frozen organic yoghurt tube to his lunch bag (not shown).  This lunch went down very well indeed with Small Child, who was delighted that I'd finally fulfilled his request!

You are definitely doing the right thing moviewise - guess how "small child's older friend from across the street" ended up having to do camping in mummy's bedroom? 🙂

Ha ha, did the monsters in the cupboard scare him? Luckily Small Child was more worried about children being poisonous to monsters, and didn't think to worry about the monsters themselves being scary!
