Yesterday I shared my fun edible pirate treasure map quesadillas tutorial and today I’m sharing the rest of the fun pirate bento box that I packed them with.  This fun pirate lunch makes a great lunch time surprise for a special occasion, especially if you have a little pirate fan on your hands!

Quesadillas make a great alternative to sandwiches for lunch boxes, they’re quick and easy to make, perfect for sneaking in some veggies and they’re easy to customise if you want to add some extra fun to your lunch box. From snowmen to book characters and reindeer to dinosaurs, I’ve used quesadillas to make fun food art a LOT over the years! Top of my boys’ favourites list for fun quesadilla creations are these edible fun treasure maps though, so when my 5 year old requested a special pirate lunch for pirate week at his preschool I knew just what to make for him!

In this lunch I packed the treasure map quesadillas, after making sure they were fully cool before packing to avoid them going soggy before lunch. On the side I packed cheese & carrot coins, an orange octopus and a small handful of raspberries, with a gold chocolate coin ‘treasure’ hiding underneath them. I finished the lunch with a pirate sword food pick and a fun pirate joke from our pirate lunch notes set. This lunch was packed in our favourite Yumbox panino bento box.

As I’ve shared several of these fun food ideas here on the blog before, I’ve linked to the tutorial for each one below (and to the free pirate lunch note printables, if you’d like to download and print your own copy).  Just click on the title or the photo to be taken to each individual tutorial, where you’ll find the full written instructions and video tutorials too.
