Elmer the Elephant Book Bento Lunch

Continuing with our World Book Day theme, today’s book bento lunch is celebrating the ‘Elmer the Elephant’ books.  Elmer is a rainbow coloured patchwork elephant, so there are a lot of colourful patchwork squares in this lunch!

In this lunch, Small Child has an assortment of edible patchwork pieces cut using my Funbites 'Cube It' cutter (raw carrot, yellow pepper, cucumber & ham), neatly sorted into square silicone muffin cases.  On top are some elephant shaped tortilla crisps (see my tortilla crisp recipe for more details of how to make these), cut out using a large elephant shaped cookie cutter.  On the side he has a pot of houmous, with an elephant sticker on the lid, some mini organix cheese crackers and a Babybel cheese with ‘E’ for Elmer/Elephant cut from the wax to decorate.

So that you can see more clearly what is underneath, here is the lunch before I added the Tortilla Elephants:

For dessert he has a patchwork of frozen yoghurt blocks (some coloured with a little food coloring) and a rainbow fruit salad (pineapple, strawberries, green grapes and red grapes) topped with some little elephant picks.  He even has a little elephant spoon to eat it with.

I was really pleased with how this one turned out, I hope Small Child enjoys his Elmer lunch!

I did not realize how many elephant books we have read and made into lunches. I added your World Book Day button to my sidebar.
