    Captain America Themed Lunch

This fun Captain America themed lunch idea has an easy Captain America shield sandwich that would be a great superhero party food idea!

After making Small Child a fun Spiderman bento lunch recently, I was inspired to try out another superhero theme, resulting in the simple Captain America bento lunch that I'm sharing with you today.

I have to say I that although this lunch is really simple, I was SO pleased with how Captain America's shield sandwich turned out! It only took a minute or two to make and both Small Child and Daddy were quite taken with it (Small Baby was unimpressed however, he was too preoccupied with trying to get his hands on the leftover crusts!).

Really easy Captain America shield sandwich - fun snack, lunch or kids party food idea for a superhero party! - from Eats Amazing UK

In the rush that morning I completely forgot to take step by step photos of the sandwich, but it's really very easy to make.  All you need is a set of nesting circle cutters and a star shaped mini cutter for the middle.

To make, cut out two circles using your largest circle cutter; one from brown bread and one from white (or other breads of your choice in two contrasting colours).  Using progressively smaller circle cutters, cut a ring from each circle and swap them over. Cut a star from the centre of the sandwich and swap them over too.  Build your sandwich from the two circles.  I found that ham with a little houmous on either side helped to hold it all together quite well.

If making multiple sandwiches (wouldn't these be great for superhero party food?!) you could keep the bottom of the sandwich as a plain circle and just make the shield design for the top layers.

As well as the shield sandwich, I also packed red and blue fruit (red grapes and blueberries), pieces of raw red pepper topped with a red pepper star and some natural yoghurt, which I topped with red, white and blue sprinkles.  This lunch was packed in our Yumbox Panino bento box.

Small Child loved his Captain America bento lunch and ate every last crumb.  Daddy was rather jealous that he didn't get one too!

Thank you! I was really pleased with this sandwich, I'm not sure I could have eaten it, ha ha! Thankfully my son has no such worries when it comes to eating his food!
