Today I'm sharing a fun and simple beach themed bento lunch. The weather has gone a bit miserable today but I'm holding on to the hope that we'll get a decent summer eventually, so this summery bento seemed a good one to share today.
This lunch was made in my current favourite lunch box - the gelato blue Yumbox Panino bento box, so it seemed appropriate to put some ice-cream inside it, albeit in sandwich form! I used one of our brilliant Lunch Punch cutters to make the ice-cream sandwiches, and was pleased with how they came out.
In this lunch Small Child had ham and cream cheese sandwiches on brown bread, cut into ice cream shapes using a cutter from the Lunch Punch Sweet sandwich cutter set. I used the cutter to cut out matching pieces of ham to decorate the top of the 'ice creams', and topped them with red polka dot bento picks to make cherries. I tucked fresh peas in their pods around the sandwiches (Small Child loves shelling the peas and eating them raw), and cut out some raw carrot sticks using a crinkle cutter. I also packed some mini cheddar biscuits in the small treat well, and finished the lunch off with some chunks of fresh mango for dessert. I decorated the rest of the lunch with boats from our transport themed bento picks set, a dolphin from our ocean friends bento pick set and a star fish from our under the sea cupcake picks set.
Small Child enjoyed his summery beach bento, and ate it all up.
