Today I’m sharing a quick idea for a fun Easter egg hunt snack box to take with you when you’re on the go during the Easter holidays. This idea would of course work with any lunch box or snack box, but we removed the tray from our new Gelato Blue Yumbox and I think it looked really pretty! I’m also introducing the new range of Yumbox UK bento boxes that have arrived in the Eats Amazing Shop this week – read to the end of the post for a discount code for free postage on all Yumbox orders!
To create this fun snack, all you need is a lunch box, some shredded paper (we found bags of coloured stuff in the pound shop), plastic eggs, a few fluffy chicks and some small snack foods to go in them. If you don’t have shredded paper, scrunched up tissue paper would work too.
Take some of the shredded paper and arrange in the lunch box. Fill your plastic eggs with foods of your choice and arrange in the lunch box. Add fluffy chicks to decorate if wanted!
For our snack, I packed blueberries, mini bread sticks, raisins, yoghurt covered raisins and a date and banana fruit bar from Organix, which I chopped into pieces. We were sent these bars to try recently, and both of my boys really like them, they make a lovely healthy treat!
I’ve put together a quick list of other foods that are small enough to fit inside these eggs, and if you have a quick look around your local supermarket, you’re bound to find plenty more. Most are healthy, some are treats – everything in moderation as they say!
Blueberries, grapes, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, cut up strawberries, mandarin segments, chunks of melon or pineapple.
Raisins, blueberries, cranberries, banana chips, apricots, apple rings, mango, pineapple, freeze fried strawberries, fruit bars, fruit snacks, yoghurt covered raisins.
Carrot sticks, cucumber sticks, raw pepper sticks or pieces, sugar snap peas, sliced baby sweetcorn, cherry tomatoes.
Other foods and treats
Nuts, seeds, popcorn, cereal, mini weetabix, mini bread sticks, mini pretzels or pretzel sticks (snap them to fit), mini cheese savouries, mini ryvitas, mini biscuits, cubes of cheese, corn snacks (we love these ones from Organix) crisps such as hula hoops, chocolate mini eggs.
I hope I’ve given you plenty of ideas to be getting on with, can you think of any more?
As I mentioned above, this week we’ve added nine new Yumbox colours and designs to the Eats Amazing Shop, including a gorgeous new tray design for the classic and four beautiful new spring colours.
