    Spooky Spider Snack & #FunFoodFriday

Now that we are in October, I am allowing myself to get stuck into making some Halloween food! Halloween offers such a great opportunity for fun food, with so many different themes to choose from and I have been brainstorming ideas like mad this week, so watch this space for lots of creepy lunches and spooky snacks jumping out at you over the next month!

Today is also Fun Food Friday,  so if you've written any foodie posts, whether it be toddler meals, creative cakes, lovely lunches or a yummy recipe you’ve blogged, do feel free to join in and add your link at the end of this post! I try to comment on and tweet every post that’s linked up, and I pin them all to my special Fun Food Friday Pinterest board too.

Healthy but fun Spooky Spider Snack for kids at Halloween from Eats Amazing UK

Today I'm kick-starting the Halloween fun with a healthy spooky spider snack that I made for Small Child recently.  I was inspired by this post that I found on Eating Richly, but I put my own spin on it by making one extra large spider using a plum instead of grapes. This was really quick and easy to put together, and greatly appreciated by Small Child!

Firstly, gather your supplies.  You'll need 1 ripe plum, a handful of raisins, 8 cocktail sticks and some eye picks.  If you don't have any eye picks, fear not, in another of my posts I shared two different kinds of home-made edible eyes which would also work brilliantly for this recipe.

To make, take your first cocktail stick, and, using kitchen scissors, snip the sharp tip off from one end.  Thread some raisins onto the stick (I used around 6 for each one), leaving the remaining sharp end clear to push into the plum. Repeat until all 8 sticks are covered in raisins.

Stand the plum up, and push four sticks into each side of it to make legs.   Add the eye pick, or edible eyes if preferred.  Serve up, being sure to warn your child about the cocktail sticks inside the 'legs'!  I served it up on a simple spiderweb, which I drew onto a sheet of plain paper.  I then spent a further few minutes showing Small Child how it's done - he's been drawing spider webs on every bit of paper in sight ever since!

Small Child really loved his spooky spider snack, and wolfed it down incredibly quickly - one minute it was there, the next, gone, poor spider! I've no doubt I'll be making several more of these snacks as Halloween approaches, although this snack would be fun at any time of year!

Now it’s your turn to share! Have you been making any fun food recently? Please link up your foodie posts below and share the inspiration around. You can also link up Instagram, Facebook or Twitter pictures if you don’t have a blog of your own.

A few quick reminders before you link up; please visit some of the other blogs that have linked up and leave them a comment – we all love comments! If you are linking up from your blog, please grab the button below too, and put it either in your blog post or somewhere on your blog. I have no fun food to add from this weeks meals 🙁 it's been a whole lot of salad this week! And I wasn't overly creative with display.

Awwww, your halo must be glowing from all the salad though! You are very welcome to link up an old post if you'd still like to join in - it doesn't have to be fancy! 🙂

Hi, it's my first time to add my link in your Fun Food Friday meme and I am a follower of yours in Instagram as well. I love the idea of the spider, I don't think my kid will love plum, maybe I can do this with a grape. 😉 Also, if I add my link in here, do I have to comment on each of the participants? Thanks! I love your lunches by the way!
