    Easy Valentines Fruit Wands Recipe

    Today I have another Valentines recipe for you - quick and easy Valentines fruit wands. This is a fun food project to make with your kids around Valentines Day, or indeed at any time of year. It's simple, healthy and makes a great snack or dessert!

    This fun heart themed food idea is so simple I can barely call it a recipe, but it's proved popular since I first shared the idea several years ago as part of a collection of healthy Valentines food ideas, so I thought it was about time it had a blog post of its own!

    Easy Valentines fruit wands recipe - fun heart themed food for kids this Valentines Day

    Easy Valentines Fruit Wands

    Ingredients (makes 8): 

    • handful blueberries
    • 4 large strawberries
    • 8 plastic Stix or bamboo skewers

    How to make Valentines fruit wands for kids - ingredients needed

    Method: 

    Wash and pat dry the strawberries.

    Hull the strawberries by cutting a V shape from the top - turning them into hearts at the same time.

    Slice each strawberry in half from top to bottom, so that you end up with two heart shaped strawberry halves from each strawberry.

    Thread a row of blueberries onto each skewer, leaving 1-2cm of stick clear at the top to hold the strawberry hearts.

    Top each skewer with a strawberry heart.

    Serve immediately, or pack in a lunch box for a cute lunchtime surprise!
