This cute chick cookies recipe is easy to make and perfect for fun Easter or spring baking with the kids.

Cute and easy chick cookies recipe - fun cookie recipe for kids this spring and Easter

I know Easter Sunday has been and gone, but I'm still at that 'what day is it?!' stage so I thought I might as well share one last Easter recipe before I move on from the subject for this year.

These cute chick cookies are tasty all the year around, and we're still in the season of spring, so let's call them 'spring chicken cookies' instead of Easter chicks!

Adding the chick faces to these cookies is completely optional of course - the basic cookie recipe also stands alone as a really yummy one for the whole year around. The cookies are soft and chewy, especially warm from the oven... I think I might 'need' to make another batch very very soon!

Pop 2 Tbsp caster sugar into a small bowl.

Roll the cookie mixture balls around in the sugar to coat all over.

Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, then remove from the oven.

While the cookies are baking, carefully cut each of your orange or pink smarties in half for chick beaks.

As soon as the cookies are cool enough to handle, but still warm, carefully push 2 candy eyes and one half smartie beak (cut side down) into the cookie to make a chick face.
