The holidays have fallen at a slightly strange time this year, or at least it feels strange to me, as Small Child has already broken up but Easter is still nearly two weeks away. Despite Easter feeling quite distant still, I made a few Easter themed lunches for Small Child in the last week of term. For this lunch, I used some Easter themed plunger cutters, that leave an imprint as well as cutting the shape out. I've seen them used on melon, so decided to try it out myself, and I thought they turned out really well.
In this lunch Small Child had a pile of oatcakes, snapped in half and decorated with a leaf shaped silicone divider, some wafer thin roast chicken slices, piled up and cut into shape using an egg shaped cutter, then decorated with an edible marker pen
, cucumber slices and peeled baby carrots, decorated with a grass shaped silicone divider and rabbit picks, fresh melon, cut into shapes using Easter themed plunger cutters, and organic natural yoghurt, topped with a few sprinkles. As it is nearly Easter, I finished the lunch off with a few chocolate mini eggs in the smallest compartment.
Small Child ate nearly all of this lunch, leaving only a couple of the oatcake halves, which he finished off after school. Needless to say, there were no chocolate eggs left!
