    Let it Snow Lunch

Make winter packed lunches extra fun with this cute snowflake themed lunch idea for kids - with homemade tortilla snowflakes!

With just two weeks left until Christmas, I thought it was about time I started giving Small Child's lunches a more festive feel.  I've been holding off as long as possible, but we're close enough now that I'm happy to let the excitement build!

According to the newspapers, this year we are forecast an extra cold and snowy winter.  Here in the south we haven't seen a single snow flake yet though, so I thought it would be nice to make a snow themed lunch to make up for it.

Small Child is desperate for snow, he keeps asking when we'll get some, and I have to remind him that we don't necessarily get snow every year, lovely though it is (I'm still a complete child when it comes to snow, for me the inconvenience is more than cancelled out by the beauty and joy it brings).

Eats Amazing - Snow themed lunch with snowflake shaped tortilla crisps

In this lunch Small Child had snowflake tortilla crisps, with a pot of organic houmous to spread on them.  I froze some of the houmous in a mini silicone mould then added it to the pot to try to make it look snowflake like.

On the side he had some ham, rolled up and skewered on clear jewel picks, that I thought looked like ice crystals, and a snowman themed snack of snowman noses, eyes and buttons (raw organic carrot triangles, organic raisins and currants), and a snowman Babybel.  I also packed a reusable food pouch full of organic blueberry yoghurt (not shown).

I made the snowflake tortilla crisps the night before, to save me time in the morning.  I cut the outlines out with a snowflake shaped cookie cutter and a little star cutter, then cut unique designs into each one using mini bento cutters of various shapes.

Once cut into shape, I baked the tortilla snowflakes in the oven  - check out my Snowflake Tortilla Chips recipe for the full instructions.
