Continuing our Halloween themed lunches this week, todays lunch had a spider theme!
In this lunch Small Child had a spider made from rice cakes, with added jelly sweet eyes and a few pretzel sticks popped in between to make legs. In the small green sauce container was a portion of cream cheese to spread on the rice cakes. On the side he had some wafer-thin chicken slices, rolled up and held together with spider rings, some raw carrot sticks and a few red grapes.
I also popped a banana into his lunch bag. As the lunch was spider themed, I added a spider web design to the banana with the tip of a sharp knife. As long as you don't cut all the way through, the cuts in the skin go brown, but the banana inside remains unaffected. I also added a fun plastic spider to his lunch bag to make him jump!
Small Child loves it when I add a web to his bananas, as he thinks they are Spiderman bananas. It's so simple to do, but definitely makes them a lot more fun. Not a scrap was left of this lunch, so it obviously went down well!
