When I was making this lunch, I was running a bit late, so I decided to put the various components together, then quickly decorate it after. I filled the roll and cut it in half, then decided that if you squint a bit, look sideways and hold it at just the right angle, it looked vaguely like a dinosaur. I therefore added some cucumber 'teeth' and drew on an eye with an edible marker pen, and voila! a dinosaur themed lunch was born!
In this lunch Small Child had a spelt roll, split and filled with a mix of grated cheddar cheese and grated raw carrot, with a slice of cucumber for teeth. On the side he had raw red pepper sticks, cucumber slices and a few carrot disks, cut using a crinkle cutter. He also had a mandarin orange (peeled) and popped into a fun silicone cup, some dried apple rings (sliced in half) and a tub of organic natural yoghurt topped with a few dinosaur sprinkles. I decorated the lunch with plastic dinosaur themed cupcake picks, and added a mini spoon for his yoghurt.
Here's a close up of the bread roll, it kind of looks like a dinosaur, right?!
Small Child ate everything in the lunch, although didn't seem entirely convinced by the experimental carrot and cheese roll filling - I had seen someone else (I can't remember who) use that combination and thought it was worth a try. Do you have any interesting sandwich filling suggestions?

I love this, most of your lunch ideas are smaller bits and pieces - It's great to have the variety of a whole roll in there! x

Thank you! I try to vary things but I do have a several 'staples' that appear in most lunches - obviously a creature of habit!
