Ingredients

  • 3 tortilla wraps
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil or oil spray
  • 2 Tbsp poppy seeds
  • bowl salsa to serve

Instructions

  • Start by preheating your oven to 180°C (Gas mark 4/350°F). Brush or spray 2 large baking trays with oil.
  • Using a spider-shaped cookie cutter, cut as many spider shapes as you can from the tortilla wraps.
  • Pop the tortilla spiders on the baking tray and brush or spray them with oil.
  • Sprinkle the tortilla spiders with poppy seeds. For a really thick coating, pour the poppy seeds into a shallow bowl and dip the oiled side of a tortilla spider into them, then return to the tray and repeat with the remaining spiders.
  • Bake in the oven for 5-8 minutes until crispy and starting to brown round the edges. Make sure you keep a sharp eye on your tortilla chips as they cook as they can burn very easily.
  • Once baked and crispy, remove from the oven and leave to cool for 10 minutes on a wire rack.
  • Serve with salsa or a dip of your choice.

Notes

Note: Prepping for a party? Make ahead and leave the tortilla chips to cool completely before storing in an airtight container until ready to use.  As long as they are cooled properly before storing, the tortilla chips should stay crispy for 2-3 days.
