Ingredients

  • 6 pack mini Babybel cheese
  • 12  edible candy eyeballs
  • 1 tsp cream cheese honey or peanut butter (optional)

Equipment:

  • 2 sizes of round mini bento cutters

Instructions

  • Peel the outer wrapping from each cheese, leaving the wax intact.
  • With the larger of the round mini cutters, cut a semi-circle from the top of one of the cheeses.  Make sure that the strip for peeling the cheese is going horizontally across it, or the cutter won’t work.
  • Peel the wax from the smaller piece of cheese, taking care to keep it one piece. With the same circle cutter, cut off two wing-shaped pieces of wax.
  • Use the smaller round mini cutter to cut a small circle from the wax to make the owls tummy. Remove, using the tip of the knife to help lift the wax away and keeping intact if possible.
  • Cut a triangle from this spare circle of wax for the beak.
  • Assemble the owl by firmly pressing the wings and beak onto the Babybel – they should stick by themselves.
  • Add a couple of edible eyes to finish your owl, sticking them in place with a little cream cheese, honey or peanut butter.
  • Repeat with the remaining cheeses until you have as many cheese owls as you need.
