Re-purpose your Christmas gingerbread house kit to make an Easter gingerbread house with the kids this spring! This fun food activity is perfect to keep the kids entertained over the Easter holidays and makes a great Easter centrepiece or dessert!

Ingredients
  • gingerbread house kit
  • royal icing
  • green coconut sprinkles
  • 1 bag tiny mini eggs
  • 1 bag mini eggs
  • 1 bag chocolate golden eggs
  • 1 pack sugar carrot decorations
  • 2 maltesers mini bunnies
  • 1 pack wafer daisies
  • 1 pack fluffy chicks
Instructions
  1. Start by putting together your gingerbread house kit, 'gluing' the house together with royal icing. Leave the house to dry and set before you start decorating it.
  2. Place the house on the plate or board that you wish to serve it on. Spread a layer of royal icing all around the house and sprinkle over the green coconut sprinkles for grass.
  3. Pipe a line of royal icing along the top ridge of the roof and attach a line of tiny mini eggs.
  4. Pipe a line of royal icing all around the edge of the base of the house and decorate with a line of mini eggs and golden eggs on all sides.
  5. Pipe a thick line of royal icing from the front door for a path, and top with tiny mini eggs for paving stones.
  6. Pipe royal icing onto the back of each sugar carrot and stick onto the roof to decorate.
  7. Pop a couple of chocolate bunnies at the front of the house.
  8. Press wafer daisies into the coconut grass, using a little royal icing to attach them if needed.
  9. Finish your Easter house with a scattering of fluffy chicks.
