Today I have some gorgeous kitchen goodies from Steamer Trading Cookshop to share with you. These would make fantastic gifts for the foodie in your life, or maybe something to treat yourself to in the run up to Christmas!
When I was growing up we used to go and stay in Sussex every school holiday – my parents were doing up a run-down old family house (now their lovely home) and it was by the sea so the perfect place to spend our holidays. We almost always paid a visit to the nearby village of Alfriston, for walks in the beautiful countryside and always a visit to the Steamer Trading Cookshop for my mum.
The Alfriston store was the first Steamer Trading Cookshop, opened in 1985 which was around the same time that my parents bought their house, so it has always been a constant in my memories of our happy family holidays. Steamer Trading now has 41 stores across the UK and a fabulous website too, filled with all the kitchen essentials you could wish for and plenty more that you didn’t know you needed until you saw them!
I was delighted to be contacted by Steamer Trading recently and offered the chance to try some of their lovely kitchen products, hand-picked as the perfect buys in the run-up to Christmas.
Another happy memory from my childhood is hanging around the kitchen while my mum got on with baking and cooking for our big family. She was always very patient and let me ‘help’ most of the time, in fact I wouldn’t be where I am today without the kitchen confidence my Mum gave me, for which I am eternally grateful. She had (and still has, I believe) a huge mixing bowl identical to this one, but in a pale brown. The gorgeous Mason Cash Mixing bowl (£24.50), updated to a very festive red, is something of a dream kitchen item for me – now I really can be just like my mum in the kitchen!
Steamer Trading also has a great range of cookie cutters. I love their festive designs, not only are they perfect for Christmas baking but with their pretty colours they’d look lovely in a glass jar or bowl too, or even strung up as cute little kitchen bunting! They’re also perfect for popping into a stocking for little or big bakers alike. Shown here; Christmas Tree Cookie Cutter and Gingerbread Man Cookie Cutter (£1.75 each).
The Perfect Roast
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a perfectly cooked roast turkey, and this Roasting Tin & Rack Set from Circulon helps you achieve just that. I love the rack which helps keep your roast crisp from top to bottom and makes lifting it out of the pan extra easy. It’s half price over at Steamer Trading right now too (RRP£39.98, currently £19.95).
Season your roast with the beautiful Peugoet Pepper Mill (£49.95), and carve it to perfection with a Sabatier Carving Set (3 piece set £32.95).
Don’t Forget the Drinks!
If you’re feeding a crowd, you’ll need to keep the drinks flowing too. I have to admit that if I’m going to forget anything in the busy run up to Christmas, it’s usually the drinks, so I tend to put my husband in charge, leaving me to worry about the food!
This lovely Kilner Drinks Dispenser (£19.99) is perfect for serving Christmas punch, mulled wine, fruit infused water or juice and it holds 5L so you won’t have to refill it too often. Don’t forget to make sure you’ve got extra glasses for everyone, like these beautiful Leonardo Tavola Long Drink Tumblers (Set of 4, £9.99), and why not add some festive fun to your drinks with these Naughty & Nice Ice Moulds (£9.99).
I’m off to have another browse through the Steamer Trading website, I’m excited to have discovered that there’s now a Steamer Trading Shop near me now too, I’ll be popping in there before Christmas to finish off my Christmas shopping for sure!
