Today I've got a really really easy fun food trick to share with you. This is honestly one of the easiest ways ever to make fun food for kids, and it had my boys begging for apples the other morning - though there's a little treat involved their enthusiasm for fruit has got to be a good thing, right?!

Every time I make these funny face apples it makes me laugh, and the kids love finding them in their lunch boxes or as a fun after school snack. They'd be perfect for kids party food too - you've got to love a fun food idea that takes literally seconds to put together!

If you have any trouble loading the tutorial video above, click here to watch it on YouTube, and don’t forget to subscribe to the Eats Amazing YouTube channel while you are there for lots more easy recipes, tutorials and fun food ideas.

    Funny Face Apples

    Ingredients:

    • 6 eating apples
    • 6 marshmallows
    • 1 edible marker pen or food colouring to dot

    Method:

Polish your apples with a clean cloth or kitchen paper.

With a clean pair of kitchen scissors, cut each marshmallow in half as shown in the video above.

Push the two cut sides of each marshmallow firmly against each apple to form the eyes. The cut sides will be sticky and should hold themselves in place.

Dot the middle of each marshmallow 'eye' with an edible marker pen or a cocktail stick dipped in food colouring to make the pupils.

Serve immediately or store in an airtight container until needed.

Notes: Depending on the condition of your apples these funny face apples should keep for several days stored in an airtight container in a cool dry place, however the marshmallows may dry out a little after a while.
You can easily scale the recipe up or down according to your needs - make just 1 funny face apple or make a whole army of them to feed a crowd!
