Easy Recipes for Kids - Eggy Bread Fingers

Today I'm sharing another of my easy recipes for kids, this one is for simple eggy bread fingers.

Served with some fresh fruit and a dollop of natural yogurt, they make a delicious healthy breakfast or brunch.  Six year old Small Child proudly served these up for us all last weekend, cooked from start to finish all by himself.

We were very impressed and thoroughly enjoyed eating them!  I have also included a free printable recipe sheet at the end of the post, in case your own child would like to give them a go too.

Simple Eggy Bread recipe for kids - serve with fresh fruit and yoghurt for a healthy family friendly breakfast

    Eggy Bread Fingers

    Ingredients

    • 1 large egg
    • 1 tbs milk
    • 2 small slices of bread
    • 1 tsp butter

    Method

Break the egg into a shallow dish or bowl and discard the shell.  Add the milk and whisk them both together.

Cut each slice of bread into thick fingers. Add the bread to the egg mixture and turn to coat on both sides.

Heat the butter in a frying pan until melted and bubbling. Add the bread fingers to the pan and cook gently until golden brown on both sides, turning with a spatula half way through cooking.

Serve immediately, with fresh fruit and a dollop of natural yogurt on the side.  We served ours up with our rainbow fruit salad and it was delicious!

I love eggy bread! I used to make it for Potato when he was very little too, but I've not done it for ages. I'm definitely going to try it with him when we get back from holiday.
