Apart from Monday, when I was taking part in a blog hop so needed to get my post published, I haven't posted to the blog this week. I haven't even turned on the laptop. I've barely looked at my phone, and have spent a fair few of my rare free minutes staring vacantly into space. Lunches have been made, but I haven't blogged about them yet. The reason being that, like a lot of people at this time of year, I am utterly exhausted.
I'm not posting this to beg for sympathy, rather to confirm that I'm only human, just like everyone else. A lovely follower commented recently on one of my Instagram photos 'Are you superwoman?' and I had to laugh. I may be able to rustle up fun lunches every day, but in other areas of my life, I frequently fall down. My house currently looks like a toy shop exploded over it, I struggle to keep on top of the endless laundry and every day that I manage to get to school on time feels like a major victory.
So if my blog post are a little infrequent of late, that's the reason why. I am most definitely not superwoman, and I'm in desperate need of more sleep! If only my lovely Small Baby would agree with me on that subject...
Still, as I mentioned above, lunches have still been created on a daily basis, all with a vaguely Christmassy theme to them. Today's lunch was quick and simple, my attempt at an edible robin!
In this lunch Small Child had a quesadilla, filled with grated cheddar cheese, sliced German sausage and red pepper pieces. I cut the cooked quesadilla into a circle, and decorated it with an edible marker pen, a spare German sausage slice and a carrot beak and feet to make a robin. I cut a couple of Christmas trees from the quesadilla offcuts, which I popped under the robin (not shown), and added some pretzel stick 'branches' for it to stand on. On the side Small Child had raw organic carrot and red pepper disks, a sliced plum and some red grapes. I added alphabet picks spelling out 'ROBIN' to the fruit.
Today is Fun Food Friday, just about! Although there is only an hour or so left of Friday here in the UK, I've decided to put the linky up anyway; better late than never and all that! I will leave it open all week so do come back and link up your lovely food related posts.
