This lunch was inspired by some special giant couscous we had for dinner recently - I was packing some of the leftovers into Small Child's Yumbox for lunch the next day and thought that it looked a bit like sand or pebbles on the ocean floor, so I made a themed lunch based around that. It also gave me a chance to use our new Ocean Friends food pick set, which is full of really cute ocean loving animals!
In this lunch Small Child had giant couscous, made up with vegetable stock, mixed with some sweetcorn and decorated with tiny fish, cut from raw carrot. On the side had raw carrot sticks, decorated with cucumber 'seaweed' and Ocean Friends food picks, ham, rolled and skewered on more food picks, fresh strawberries and blueberries, decorated with a dolphin food pick and a couple of boat food picks, organic natural yoghurt, sprinkled with a pinch of tiny star sprinkles, and some raisins.
I added a mini bento spoon and fork to his lunch bag, along with some cute ice packs that matched the theme. Small Child ate every bit of this lunch, even the couscous, which I must admit I wasn't sure he would eat, as he grumbled a bit when he had it for dinner. He loves this pick set, especially the super cute penguin!
