Today I couldn't help chuckling as I packed Small Child's lunch box in his lunch bag. His lunch was very quick and simple to make, and is a good example of how you can make a fun lunch with very little effort.
In his lunch box he had an onion bagel, split in half, buttered and filled with ham. I added some cucumber pieces to make a head and a tail (with a couple of picks for eyes), and a fruit string to make a swirl on the bagel 'shell'. In less than 5 minutes, a bagel snail was born!
I thought it would be fun to continue the theme in his dessert box, so he had half an apple decorated with a carved snail swirl, some slugs (dried apricots!) and some bug themed frozen organic vanilla yoghurt blocks. These were frozen in a cute silicone mould (a tutorial can be found here).
I hope that Small Child enjoys munching up Bertie the bagel snail for lunch today!
