    Skeleton Themed Lunch

One of my favourite things about becoming a Mum for the second time is seeing my boys interact and get to know each other.  Small Baby was born two weeks before the summer holidays, so he got used to having Small Child around all the time in the first few months of his life, and now he seems to miss him when he is at school all day.  He's not quite four months old yet, but he lights up when he sees his big brother at the end of each school day.  He can be grumpy and hard to settle when he's at home with just me during the week, but the weekends are a dream in comparison, as he  is content to spend lots of his time happily sitting and observing every move that his big brother makes.  When he does start to grizzle, Small Child just sings to him, and he instantly settles; Small Baby loves being sung to!

The current favourite song in our house is 'Dem Bones', a version of which Small Child likes to watch on YouTube, and sing and dance along to.  Small Baby loves this song, and he likes to be picked up and danced along to it too!  I thought that it would make a good theme for a lunch, especially during the Halloween season, so I made this skeleton themed lunch for Small Child last week.

In this lunch Small Child had a pitta bread, cut into strips and popped into a container with some pretzel sticks to make a pile of bones.  He had a pot of organic houmous, part frozen into the shape of a skull using a silicone mould, and some raw organic carrot sticks and baby sweet corn to dip in it.  Small Child chose the baby sweet corn to go in his lunch when we were food shopping.  On the side he had some organic blueberry yoghurt, frozen into bone shapes, also in a silicone mould, and some orange slices.  I finished the lunch off with a couple of skeleton food picks.

Small Child loved his skeleton lunch, and sang 'Dem Bones' all the way to school! Here's a YouTube clip of the song, from Super Simple Songs:

    Hope you enjoyed that!

My son would love this especially as he's wearing a Halloween skeleton costume for the third year in a row!
