As you may have seen mentioned over on my Facebook page, I recently took delivery of a very large box full of exciting new bento products for the Eats Amazing Shop. Among them were some super cute bunny rabbit picks, which Small Child picked out for me to use with his Yumbox for this lunch. This inspired me to get out the rabbit egg mould too, so there were a lot of rabbits in this lunch!
In this lunch Small Child had a pile of ritz crackers, some purple carrots and sliced mini orange pepper, a hard boiled egg, moulded using a rabbit egg mould (a tutorial for moulding eggs can be found here), clementine segments and blueberries, and some organic blueberry yoghurt, topped with flower sprinkles. I used rabbit picks to decorate the lunch, and finished it off with some fruit juice hearts in the little treat compartment. I added a mini bento spoon for the yoghurt to his lunch bag - another cute product newly available in the shop!
This lunch was made for Small Child to take with him to a workshop, for which he also needed a snack, so I packed him a separate snack box with a sliced apple, dipped in orange juice to prevent browning, and some sesame snaps, by his request. I matched the snack up to the lunch by adding a few rabbit picks to the apple too.
Small Child ate all of his snack and a good amount of the lunch too, finishing off what was left as an afternoon snack when he got home. I was very pleased to see that there was absolutely no leakage of the yoghurt in the Yumbox - this was the first time that I'd used it outside the house so I was feeling a little nervous in case it didn't live up to its promise, but the silicone seal did the job perfectly. I look forward to making more lunches in it when Small Child goes back to school next Monday - we had word today that the flood waters have receded enough for him to go back at last, after 3 weeks off school!
