On Friday Small Child took part in his first ever nativity play. I went along expecting cuteness, but it was even cuter than I could possibly have imagined! The children were all gorgeous and they did such an amazing job, remembering all their lines and the songs. The story was all about a Star who couldn’t shine, so I decided to make Small Child a special star lunch that day to celebrate.
In his lunchbox he had an extra special ‘fairy bread’ sandwich. This was made by cutting a star from one side of an English Muffin, spreading the muffin with strawberry jam and sprinkling some mini star sprinkles over the middle before putting the sandwich together. Not the healthiest sandwich admittedly, but very cute for a special occasion! To balance out the sugar he also had some red pepper stars, star carrot disks and a babybel cheese with a star cut from the wax. I used star shaped silicone cups and star picks just to add a few more stars to the lunch.
For dessert he had an apple with stars cut from the skin (dipped in orange juice to prevent browning), some fruit juice star sweets in another star shaped silicone cup and some sesame snaps.
Now that I’ve been to a nativity play, I can’t deny that Christmas is just around the corner, so expect a few Christmassy lunches in the next few weeks!
