Yesterday evening I was about to go to bed when I realised that today is Monday, which = packed lunch! I was all out of bread and therefore very grateful to find some homemade pizza whirl rolls stashed in the freezer. Small Child was happy too, he loves pizza. This formed the basis for a quick and easy packed lunch.
In the lunchbox was a pizza whirl bread roll split and filled with some garlic & herb cream cheese. Also included were some carrot sticks and cucumber sticks, with the word ‘PIZZA’ cut from carrot disks. The pizza whirl was made with ham, cheese & tomato baked into it.
For dessert he had a banana cut in half and decorated with flowers (using a mini flower shaped cookie cutter pressed into the skin). The ends of the banana were dipped in lemon juice to stop them from browning. He also had a peeled and sliced kiwi fruit with a mini giraffe fork, and a mini flapjack in a silicone cup.
I also threw a frozen organic yoghurt tube in to his lunchbag (not shown). This was a really quick and easy lunch to prepare, and the little ‘touches’ such as flowers on the banana took very little extra time. I suppose I’m also getting quicker with practice!
