After I made the leaf sandwiches mentioned in my last post, I had to try them. Who wouldn’t want to eat green bread?! Luckily we had arranged a trip to a local forest with a friend that day so I packed them up for our picnic.
In Small Child’s picnic lunch box he had cheese and marmite green leaf sandwiches (decorated with strips of cucumber skin), carrot, red pepper and yellow pepper flowers and cucumber ‘leaves’.
In the top layer of his lunchbox he had plain popcorn and half an apple (carved into a ladybird, with a grape head).
He also had a frozen organic yoghurt tube (not shown). I made myself a similar box, with houmous & feta cheese leaf sandwiches, and the other half of the apple sliced up (boring!). We had a great day at the forest, with plenty of running round for the boys, and plenty of gossiping for the mums; idyllic!
