    Happy Red Nose Day!

Today is Red Nose Day, a massive fundraising event in the UK that raises money to transform the lives of disadvantaged people both here in the UK and also in Africa.  I packed Small Child off to school this morning dressed in red (with additional ladybird wings at his insistence), carrying a plate of homemade swirly red biscuits for a fundraising cake sale, some money in his bag to donate to the cause and of course clutching his Red Nose themed lunch!

In this lunch Small Child had a red nosed sandwich, made from multi-seed bread and filled with ham, decorated with a Babybel (cut in half to make the eyes), a cucumber mouth and of course a red nose, made from a whole cherry tomato.  The sandwich was cut into a circle with a large cookie cutter, and I cut a hole in the centre of the top piece of bread using a mini circle cutter for the tomato to sit in, so hopefully it should stay put!

On the side he had a red silicone cup filled with black grapes, some cucumber slices and another cherry tomato, skewered on a red polka-dot pick.

For dessert he had an apple, complete with red nose (I cut a circle from the skin then added a circle of skin from the other side of the apple, which was much more red), a pot of organic yoghurt complete with red nose (I mixed a little food colouring into some of the yoghurt and froze it in a silicone mould the night before) and a few cheerios & red fruit juice hearts to sprinkle over the yoghurt.

I hope that you are enjoying Red Nose Day wherever you are!
